Happy New Year!

Aloha~

It’s been a busy few months here, with Aaron traveling quite a bit.  First the Aaron Chang Clothing promotion in L.A. at the Virgin Megastore, then flying down for the Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic in Florida, showing his amazing slide show Living in the Light (and winning a surfing trophy by the way!)  Be sure to check out the past slideshow on Surfline.com if you haven’t already!

Just before the holidays, Aaron was profiled in a local newspaper, The Beach Break News, and interviewed by ImaginAsian TV.  (Aaron's episode is #4 and will air on Jan 29th!) Then a quick jaunt to Hawaii for Aaron Chang Clothing at Macy’s, Ala Moana Center, where Aaron got to meet some of the local talent and sign a lot of posters!

Soon after Thanksgiving, Aaron traveled back to Hawaii where he, along with his Covered Images partner, Pierre Tostee photographed the amazing Vans Triple Crown.  See the new slide show now on Surfline.com

In December another long time project came to fruition, when Aaron’s company Living Light Media along with Christian Surfers International, published the new version of The Christian Surfers New Testament.  If you’d like to purchase a copy, they’re available online at CS Clothing.

Finally, needless to say, Aaron has been enjoying the massive surf that So Cal has been having, getting in some surfing himself as well as doing some photography.  Braddigan, an amazing musician and human being came to visit and as Aaron took some new images of him, we were able to listen to his music and philosophy.  Seriously go listen to his music!   Finally, yesterday Aaron presented his amazing slideshows and spoke about his love of Macs at the Apple Store in San Francisco in conjunction with MacWorld  and today he's off to Surf Expo in Florida for AC Clothing!  Whew!

Another new slideshow on Surfline.com!

The 6th Annual Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic held on November 11-13, 2005, was an unforgettable event in Flagler Beach this year. The night before the contest an amazing slide show was presented by Aaron and featured a live performance from Braddigan. The Contest itself proved to be the largest to date with hundreds in attendance and all benefits went to the Tommy Tant Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Flagler Resource Center to feed those in need. After the event, a memorial paddle out was held for Tommy Tant, Will Tant's older brother who passed away 6 years ago. The slideshow captures the look and feel of the crowd. Aaron also stepped out from behind the camera to compete in the contest, taking home a 4th place trophy!

Friday, October 5th saw the first north swell of the season. Clean early morning offshores defined a fun 3-to-5 foot swell that played well in the beach breaks of San Diego’s north county. The local crew dusted off their winter maneuvers and slipped into the fall rhythm. Stand out surfers were Eli Mirandon, Zack Keenan, Magnum Martinez and Scott Hammons. A full blown morning session went down with Aaron Chang, Chris Straley and new comer Blaine Franger shooting.

Cover Shot! The digital age of surfing is coming alive. Aaron lands his second cover shot this year on Surfing Magazine's September '05 issue. The cover features surfer Flynn Novak getting barreled in a afternoon Pipe session. This cover shows how far digital photography has come. The colors and detail are pushing the envelope of digital technology and making it easier for photographers to take better and more creative shots of your favorite surfers.

Cover Shot!

Cover Shot! Aaron finds the cover at Pickleweed Point. Aaron scores the cover shot on Surfing Magazine's May '05 issue. The shot is from Pickleweed Point, just down the way from Aarons backdoor. This was an absolute gem of day that wasn't coming together for shooting. Aaron started in La Jolla and searched the entire coast to Oceanside with no luck. After trying all day he decided to throw in the towel and cut his surfers loose. On the way home Aaron decided to check a spot that he frequents and that was all he needed. Two surfers out and California as good as it gets. Shot digitally with the Canon EOS-1D Mark II.
