Aaron Chang's mission statement reads: "I would like to convey through photographs a sense of wonder with the amazing design or architecture of life. In the overwhelming perfection of the design is where I find My Inspiration. It is my hope that when presented with the beauty and majesty of Our World, viewers might ponder the gift of life given to us so freely. It is our nature to become easily blinded to this beauty and to forget what a wonder it is to be alive. My hope would be that my photographs cause the viewer to appreciate what surrounds them and the joy of being alive."
Aaron Chang is a legendary name in the sport of surfing, as well as the co-founder of a multimillion-dollar apparel company that bears his name. In addition, Aaron operates a thriving commercial photography business. His photographs have been used in advertising by clients such as Nike, Yamaha, Levi's, Macy's and Polaris, to name a few. Most recently his work is featured in a global advertising campaign for Mercedes-Benz.
With over 100 covers to his credit, Aaron's work has appeared in a multitude of publications in many genres -- from sports to rock and roll and fashion magazines, from highly successful books on photojournalism to the prestigious coffee table book series, A Day in the Life. His images are featured on mass-marketed post cards, posters, calendars and cell phone wallpaper. In addition to still photography, Aaron has also shot and directed a number of film projects including a three-dimensional action sports film.
Aaron has embarked on a new project, Living Light Media, which was founded to create original, compelling multi-media content. The company will use progressive and spiritually relevant print, video, film and live media projects to communicate its provocative and counter culture ideas.
An active member of his community, both personally and professionally, Aaron serves on several boards and contributes to many charities. He is an avid surfer, a loving husband and father. He surfs at least a couple of times each week, mostly near his Southern California home. In a reversal of positions, a photograph of Aaron, surfing off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, was recently featured on the cover of the European BoardSport Source magazine. |
